Punjab Government Moves to Introduce New Driving Permit System
The Punjab government has decided to introduce a new driving permit, including a Juvenile Driving Permit for underage riders, as part of broader legislative and administrative reforms.

The decision was taken during the 30th meeting of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Legislative Business and Privatization, chaired by Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman. All agenda items presented in the meeting were reviewed and approved unanimously.
Key approvals included amendments to the Provincial Motor Vehicle Ordinance, 1965, changes to the Punjab Government Advertisement Policy 2025, and proposed revisions to the Punjab Infrastructure Development Cess Act, 2015, and the Punjab Sales Tax on Services Act, 2012.
The committee also cleared amendments to related rules and approved the draft Punjab Home-Based Workers Rules, 2024. In addition, the Punjab Assembly’s session calendar for 2026–27 was endorsed.
Addressing the meeting, the finance minister said the government is prioritizing fiscal discipline, business-friendly reforms, and workers’ rights protection. He instructed departments to ensure timely implementation of all approved decisions.
