Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Adjusts School Timings Amid Severe Cold Wave
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced new school timings in the province’s plain areas to protect students during the ongoing severe cold spell. The changes will take effect from January 16, right after the winter vacations, according to an official notification from the KP Education Department.
Under the revised schedule, primary schools will operate from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm, while middle, high, and higher secondary schools will run from 9:00 am to 2:20 pm. Authorities said the decision is aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of students amid harsh winter conditions.

The department urged schools, parents, and students to strictly follow the new timings and stay updated with any further notifications. This adjustment comes as several other provinces have also taken measures to modify school schedules due to extreme weather.
Education officials emphasized that these measures are temporary and meant to minimize health risks while maintaining regular academic activities. Students are advised to dress warmly and avoid unnecessary travel during peak cold hours.
This move reflects KP’s proactive approach to balancing education and student safety during unpredictable winter weather.
