KP Launches Free Laptop Program to Empower Blind and Visually Impaired Students
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a new laptop scheme aimed at supporting blind and visually impaired students studying in recognized educational institutions across the province. The initiative is designed to improve access to digital learning and promote academic inclusion.
According to official details, students enrolled in colleges, universities, or madrasas recognized by relevant authorities are eligible to apply. Applicants must be permanent residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and possess a valid disability certificate issued by the Social Welfare Department.

The government will accept applications through an online MIS system, ensuring a transparent and streamlined process. Officials confirmed that laptops will be distributed strictly on merit and will depend on the availability of funds. Preference will be given to students who show strong academic performance and the ability to effectively use assistive technology for education.
Authorities stated that the program reflects the provincial government’s commitment to inclusive education and equal opportunities for students with disabilities. Eligible candidates have been advised to submit their applications through the official Social Welfare Department website, swkpk.gov.pk, within the announced timeline.
The scheme is expected to help visually impaired students continue their studies with greater independence and confidence.
