Matric Exams 2026 May Start Late Due to Ramadan: Students and Parents Concerned
Education authorities have proposed delaying the Matric annual examinations 2026, mainly due to the holy month of Ramadan. The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore has requested permission to start exams from March 27, with final approval pending from the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen (PBCC).
If approved, this will push the exams beyond the traditional early-March schedule, starting after the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. Officials say the change aims to ensure smooth arrangements and avoid exams during fasting, which could affect student performance.

The proposal has sparked concerns among students and parents. Many students feel the exams should begin from March 1 with only a short one-week Eid break, to prevent disruptions in preparation. Parents have warned that delaying Matric exams could affect the entire academic calendar, including Intermediate and BA exams, potentially increasing pressure later in the year.
Education officials, however, maintain that adjusting the schedule is necessary to balance academic efficiency and student well-being. The final timetable will be announced once PBCC approval is received, giving students time to plan their study schedules.
This delay could mark a notable shift in Punjab’s exam routine, making it important for students and parents to stay updated on official announcements.
