Punjab Announces Matric and Intermediate Exam Dates for 2026, Students Get Early Relief
The Punjab Education Department has officially announced the exam schedule for Matric and Intermediate examinations 2026, giving students across the province a clear roadmap for the upcoming academic year. The early announcement is being welcomed by students, parents, and teachers, as it allows more time for structured preparation and reduces exam-related stress.
According to the official notification, Matric examinations will begin on March 3, 2026, while Intermediate exams are scheduled to start on May 5, 2026. In another significant development, Class 8 board-based examinations will be held from February 3, 2026, reflecting Punjab’s move toward standardized assessments at the middle level.

The department also confirmed that the new academic year will start on April 1, 2026, and the distribution of free textbooks in government schools will begin from April 5. These decisions are part of broader education reforms that include syllabus updates, a revised admission policy, and the printing of new textbooks.
All boards under the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen (PBCC) will follow a uniform exam schedule, ensuring transparency and fairness across the province. Officials said the detailed date sheets will be released in January 2026, enabling students to plan their studies more effectively.
The move signals Punjab’s focus on better academic planning and a more student-friendly education system.
