Punjab Tightens Retirement Leave Process for Teachers with New SOPs

The Punjab Education Department has introduced updated rules to manage Leave Preparatory to Retirement (LPR) cases for teachers, aiming to reduce delays and improve transparency.

Under the new SOPs, incomplete LPR applications will no longer be accepted. Teachers must now submit their requests with a complete checklist, as any missing document will result in the case being returned without review.

Officials have been directed to ensure that all documents are properly verified by the relevant District Education Officer (DEO) or Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Authorities must also include clear and specific recommendations with each case.

Teachers applying for LPR are required to attach key records, including their service book, appointment and promotion orders, recent salary slips, and a full leave history.

The department has also made it clear that district-level officers will be held responsible for unnecessary delays, signaling stricter oversight in processing retirement-related cases.
